NZC contracted, Otago Volts Physiotherapist, Brett Harrop, has secured a two-year contract with Sri Lanka Cricket. Harrop has been head physio with Otago for the past five summers and with the challenges being created due to Covid-19 and with limited opportunities to seek overseas contract work through the off season, he felt the time was right to take up this new opportunity.
“I love everything about Otago Cricket and the Otago Volts. However, with Covid-19 and the part year nature of my contract, it made it too difficult to secure contract work that was normally available to me through the off season. The opportunity to stay involved in cricket and with a national body is very exciting” Harrop explained.
Otago Cricket have used two Physiotherapists over the past summer with Scott Wilson coming on board. Manager Performance & Talent, Simon Forde, sang the praises of Harrop and his contribution over the past 5 years.
“Brett has been fantastic. He’s a quality physio, well respected and has brought plenty of cricket nous to our playing and management group. We wish him all the very best but will certainly miss him. We are very fortunate to have Scott in our environment, someone who also exhibits the same quality attributes as Brett”.
Harrop was quick to point out that Dunedin is now his home. “Although I will be based mostly overseas over the next two years, my home is Dunedin. My family will remain here and I will come back as often as possible. The Otago Volts will remain large in my heart and I look forward catching up often”.
