Gary Stead Interim Volts Coach


Former Black Caps Head Coach Gary Stead has agreed to provide interim coaching support to Otago as it continues its search for a new Head Coach for the Volts team.

Stead who has recently finished his seven-year stint with the Black Caps will work with the Volts players throughout the winter months, assisting them with their individual development. He will maintain contact with those players who are plying their trade in the UK through the winter as well.

Otago Cricket’s GM Performance Steve Martin is delighted to be able to have Stead involved saying “Gary is a world class coach who will add immeasurable value not only to our playing group but also to our high-performance programme. His input on so many fronts will be well received.”

Stead himself is looking forward to being able to bring his wealth of experience to a Major Association’s development programme. “Otago have a strong playing roster and some exciting young players who have had a very good season. It excites me to have the chance to help these young players and the more experienced players continue to grow, and to be in a position to give back to the domestic game.”

Gary will start his role on the 30th of June when he travels down to Dunedin to meet with players and person
