Dunedin-owned Night ‘n Day have signed a four year partnership with Otago Cricket to secure the naming rights to the newly branded Dunedin Premier Grade Cricket competition as well as naming rights to all Dunedin junior cricket grades.
Otago Cricket has recently taken over the lead for all aspect of Cricket in Dunedin from the Dunedin Cricket Association and with change came the opportunity to work with a progressive Dunedin business that has a strong community connection, as its focus. By rebranding the senior competition and creating various format finals throughout the season, Otago Cricket has created excitement and activation opportunity that Night ‘n Day management felt fitted their objectives of being engaged in Dunedin community sport.
The Dunedin Premier competition will become the Night ‘n Day DPG (Dunedin Premier Grade) and with the conclusion of all three formats, one club will be crowned the Night ‘n Day Bing Harris Shield Champions. One Day and T20 Cup finals will be contested this season with club events planned to celebrate each occasion.
GM Community Cricket, Andrew Petrie says the support from Night ‘n Day as a long term partner vindicates Otago Cricket’s commitment to managing all elements of Duneidn Cricket. “This could well be the first major sponsor of Dunedin Club Cricket and as a result we we can now work together to grow the community profile and support for Cricket in Dunedin at senior and junior level and at the same time build support for all Night ‘n Day stores across Dunedin and our region”.
Night ‘n Day General Manager Matt Lane is excited about the partnership with Otago Cricket and the opportunity to grow its brand and community connection, particularly with Night ‘n Day stores dotted across Dunedin as well as across wider Otago Southland region, and other parts of the country. Through discussions with our local store owners, we found that our stores and Otago Cricket both have closely aligned values. We’re proud to be part of the communities in which we’re based, and our partnership with Otago Cricket will hopefully bring about a strong community focus and really benefit Dunedin and Otago locals over the years to come.
Senior club cricket including the Night ‘n Day Premier Grade gets underway Saturday 31 October as well as all Junior Grades.
