University Oval to Host Sri Lanka ODI

The University of Otago Oval will host International Cricket once again with Sri Lanka coming to town in early 2027 for the 3rd ODI of the Series on Friday 22 January, 2026.

The ground will host it's first ODI since 2023 when the Blackcaps played Bangladesh, and won. Something the national men's side will look to continue with their 100% win record on the ground. A fortress for the Blackcaps.

Blackcap and Otago Great, Jacob Duffy expressed his excitement to return to his home ground, one he love's playing at. "The University Oval is one of the hidden gems of New Zealand cricket. It's a beautiful, intimate ground, and the Dunedin fans are knowledgeable, passionate and always get right behind the team".

"Dunedin doesn't always get the big internationals, so when we do come to town the whole city gets involved and there's a real community buzz around the match. As a southern boy, it's especially meaningful for me — getting to play for the BLACKCAPS in my home city, in front of my own people, is one of the best feelings in cricket".

With it being a Friday, Duffy is excited to see Dunedin get around the game, and kick off their weekend the right way. "The Sri Lanka ODI is going to be a fantastic day out for Dunedin, and I'd encourage every local cricket fan to get along. The ground will look stunning, and I can promise we'll give everything to make it a day to remember".

Tickets are yet to be released.
