Otago Cricket has confirmed the full contracted squad for the Otago Sparks ahead of the 2025/26 domestic season. The announcement of Hannah O’Connor, Saffron Wilson and Harriet Cuttance in the final round of contracting completes a strong lineup featuring a mix of experience and emerging talent.
O’Connor earns her first Sparks contract after previously representing New Zealand Under-19 at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia, where she played alongside current teammates Louisa Kotkamp and Anika Todd.
Wilson, an opening batter, heads into her third season with the Sparks as she looks to cement her spot in the side, while opening bowler Cuttance secures another contract after representing the Sparks twice previously and featuring for the New Zealand Māori Wāhine team at the T20 Pacific Cup.
New signing Todd said the Sparks’ team environment was a major factor in her move south.
“The welcoming environment will provide me a platform to grow and expand my game with an amazing group of girls. The Sparks have an exciting culture that I’m thrilled to join, and I’m looking forward to adding positive energy and an eagerness to learn.”
The Sparks head into the 2025/26 season with a balanced squad full of international experience, proven performers and new faces, as they look to continue their recent success in both the Dream11 Super Smash and the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield. Their campaign begins with the defence of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield on 15 November at University Oval against the Auckland Hearts.
