Otago Cricket has confirmed the first round of contracts for the Otago Sparks ahead of the 2025/26 domestic season, naming 10 players in the initial announcement.
The group features a blend of returning experienced players and emerging talent, forming a strong squad for the upcoming season. The Sparks have reached the Dream11 Super Smash Finals in the past two seasons and claimed back-to-back titles in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield.
Among those named is all-rounder Anika Todd, who joins Otago from Auckland and earns her first domestic contract with the Sparks. Todd has previously represented New Zealand Under-19 and the New Zealand Māori Wāhine team.
The 2025/26 season will also be the first under new Head Coach Gareth Davies, who steps into the role with a focus on continuing to develop the team’s depth and consistency.
“I’m really excited about the group we’ve assembled so far. There’s a great balance of experience and emerging talent, and it’s clear that this team has a strong culture and a hunger for success. We’ve seen what this group is capable of over the past few seasons, and my aim is to keep building that momentum,” he said.
