Squad for Ford Trophy Semi Final

Thursday, 2 February 2012

The Otago Volts selectors today confirmed a squad of thirteen for the sudden death Ford Trophy preliminary final against the Canterbury Wizards at the University Oval on Sunday.

The squad features two changes from the thirteen who were involved in the last round robin match against Wellington in Invercargill. Aaron Redmond and Jacob Duffy have been omitted with Hamish Rutherford and Warren McSkimming coming into the squad.

Derek de Boorder will take over from Aaron Redmond as captain of the side.

Otago Volts coach Vaughn Johnson said “It has been an extremely tough decision to leave Aaron out of the side and replace him as captain. Aaron is struggling for form and confidence and it has been decided that the best form of action is to give him a rest. Aaron is a quality player and I am sure we will see him back scoring runs before too long. As well as another bowling option within the group Warren adds a lot of experience which is critical in finals cricket”.

The game against the Canterbury Wizards starts at 11am at the University Oval on Sunday
