Injuries Force Changes for Volts

Wednesday, 10 March 2010

Injuries have forced three changes on the Otago Volts for their Plunket Shield Round eight clash with the Canterbury Wizards.

Aaron Redmond, Neil Wagner and James McMillan are all out of the twelve due to injury. Redmond’s injury makes way for Darren Broom. Veteran opening bowler Warren McSkimming and debutant James Fuller replace McMillan and Wagner.

Redmond is having further problems with the stomach and hip injuries that have kept him off the field for much of the season, while his flatmate James McMillan also picked up a slight abdominal strain in last weeks game against Auckland. Neil Wagner is suffering from stiffness in the lower part of his back.

Fullers first inclusion in a Volts side is good reward for hard work at training with the wider squad. Stand in Volts Coach Vaughan Johnson said “ James is a strong young lad who bowls a brisk pace and gets heavy bounce off a good length, he is an exciting prospect for the future and deserves his opportunity at the next level”.
