Injuries have forced three changes on the Otago Volts for their Plunket Shield Round eight clash with the Canterbury Wizards.

The Otago Volts rolled the Auckland Aces for 333 to complete a 24 run win at University Oval in Dunedin.

Craig Cumming has scored his 15th First Class century for Otago and moved into second on the all time list just two behind Burt Sutcliffe's record of 17.

Our focus now turns to the Plunket Shield. Having won the last two games before the break and almost won a third we had momentum prior to the break. With only one win between the top three teams every game is vitally important

Leighton Morgan and Mathew Harvie are the new faces in the Otago Volts line up for their Plunket Shield Round 7 clash with the Auckland Aces. Morgan replaces Neil Broom who is away on national duty while Harvie replaces Warren McSkimming who has been ruled out with a back injury.

The match at Queens Park in Invercargill between the Otago Volts and Central Stags ended in a draw after a rained out fourth day.

Otago A v Canterbury A. An opening partnership of 228 between Aaron Redmond and Michael Bracewell was the highlight of Otago A’s rain-shortened match with Canterbury A at Hagley Park, Christchurch this week. The pair retired as soon as Bracewell reached his ton.Earlier, Andrew Ellis had starred for Canterbury with 161.The one-day match between the two sides was rained out also.

The Otago Volts have it all to play for when domestic cricket returns to the four day format for round six of the Plunket Shield this week. The Volts head to Invercargill to take on the Central Stags in a game that is crucial to the team’s chances of challenging for the trophy.

These awards, which have been going for three years, recognise excellence in the field of development across five categories. The categories include – Best Junior Cricket Initiative, Best Youth Cricket Initiative, Best Club Cricket Initiative, Best Women’s Cricket Initiative and the Service to Cricket Award.
