Northern Districts vs Otago
Otago made a good start with the bat today with a 1st innings total of 240. Ashley Simpson top scored with a well made 71 from 128 balls, he was well supported by Jordan Horrell, 40, in the middle order. Putting together a partnership of 63 in 78 minutes. Rory Darkins was the leading wicket taker for ND with 4-88 from 17 over’s, in addition Jonny Wilkinson had excellent figures of 3-17 from 10.2 over’s. Northern Districts made a steady reply being 38-1 at the close of the 1st day with Ashley Abraham and Ash Vodnala not out over night
Northern Districts resuming from an overnight 38-1 batted throughout the day taking 1st innings points before declaring at 321-9 of 107 over’s. All but one of the Northern batsman achieved double figures with Eli McKillop top scoring with 43 of 91 balls, Ash Vodnala 42 and Sean Davey 39 making very useful contributions. The Otago bowlers toiled throughout the day sharing the wickets between them, the best figures being achieved by Chris Ware with 2-31. Northern Districts winning on 1st innings points.

Otago vs Canterbury
After deciding to bat first Canterbury slumped to 44-4 thanks to some excellent early bowling from Kane Russell (3-41). Thanks to a 5th wicket partnership led by Henry Nicholls (75) took them to 103. Nicholls was also involved with Matt Henry (57) in a 101 run 6th wicket partnership helping Canterbury to a respectable 214-9. The pick of the Otago bowlers were Daniel Dukes (3-48) and Kane Russell (3-41). Despite an opening partnership of 42 Otago never threatened to get the 215 needed to beat Canterbury. All the Canterbury bowlers giving very little away with Theo Van Woerkom producing excellent figures of 3-12 of 6 over’s. Ben Cant was the only Otago batsman to offer any real resistance against the Canterbury bowlers scoring 28 of 66 balls. Otago where not helped by the fact 3 of their batsman where run out. Canterbury win by 81 runs.

Auckland
vs Otago
Otago made a solid start after being put in to bat by Auckland. The two openers sharing a stand of 65 for the 1st wicket, Ben Cant going on to score a solid 63 of 125 balls. Matt Hunter in the middle order added 58 and Michael Collins at number 9 a handy 40 taking Otago to a very respectable 291 from 88.5 over’s. Auckland’s bowlers stuck to their task with Tom Ellis finishing with 3-59, Travis Brown 2-21 and Elliot Herd 2-43. In reply Auckland finished the day on 28-4 in deep trouble after some excellent late day bowling from Otago.
Resuming overnight at 28-4, Auckland struggled to 81 all out with only Craig Cachopa(21) and Tom Ellis (23) nudging the score along. The Otago bowling attack was well led by Christopher Ware with 4-33 of 12 over’s, he was well supported by all the Otago bowlers especially Kane Russell with 2-9 of 5 over’s. Having been forced to follow on Auckland responded very well with 289-3 of 61 over’s, Craig Cacopa scoring a fluent 140 no of only 119 over’s including four 6’s and twenty two 4’s. The Otago bowlers struggled on a hot day with Daniel Duke finishing with the best return of 2-34. Otago only gaining points for a first innings win.

Central Districts v Otago
Otago struggled early at 19-2 but fought back to post a competitive 242. Ciaran McMeeken top scored with a very patient 76 from 184 balls sharing a 5th wicket partnership of 93 with Liam Edwards (54). Ted Haggas continued his good tournament form with a fine return of 5-64 of 22 over’s with Ben Wheeler taking 2-24 in support.
Central Districts made an excellent start in reply, scoring 62 for the loss of 1 wicket in the remaining 19 over’s of the day. The two not out batsman, both from Hawke’s Bay, Ihaia West (27 no) and Sam McConville (17no) will be looking to build on their innings tomorrow and take CD to 1st innings points.
CD fell just 1 run short of the Otago total despite a valiant effort from the CD tail ender’s with the last 2 wickets adding 48 runs. Ben Wheeler top scored for CD with a defiant 79 of 168 balls and Ihaia West chipping in with 43. The pick of the Otago bowlers was Chris Ware with 4-71 including the last wicket giving Otago 1st innings points. Otago batted for half an hour before the game was called off. Daniel Dukes made the most of the 30 minutes scoring a rapid 38 not out of 25 balls, Driaan Lubbe 1-25.

Wellington vs Otago
Otago failed to see through their 50 over’s after winning the toss and deciding to bat first. The only batting performance of note was 48 by Ben Cant. Wellington’s bowlers all performed well with Harry Wright having the remarkable figures of 2-7 of his 10 over’s including 6 maidens. Luke Boydajian was again in amongst the wicket takers with 3-31 of 9.3 over’s as was Matt Taylor with 2-11. The Otago bowlers started well and with Wellington 10-2 they felt they may have been in with a chance. However a 73 run 3rd wicket partnership between Taylor and Wright put and end to any chance they may have had. Wellington then made quick work of the Otago score winning by 5 wickets with 19 over’s left. Harry Wright made a half century being well supported by Matt Taylor (35). The pick of the Otago bowlers were Matt Hunter and Chris Ware with a couple of wickets each.
